Poor shot selection by Tavernari on that 3 with so much time left on the clock. We're only down by 2 you don't need a 3 from 5 feet beyond the arch! He wanted to be the hero in his final home game I guess...

and REALLY bad timing on that time out.

The block was clean. The follow through came down across his shoulder. That is a foul.

Really horribly officiated game IMO. I didn't have a problem with the block at the end though. The one I had a problem with was when we were down 80-76, and Haws drove the lane and "lost control of the ball". BULL! I rewatched it in slow mo 5 times and Martinez reaches in and slaps his hand that is on the ball.

I actually didn't mind that shot. It was as good a shot as you're going to get against UNM at that point in the game. Doesn't matter, UNM won the game and were the better team (by 2 points).

I just think at that point in the game where every possession is so critical you look for a higher percentage shot. It's not like the shot clock was running out, there was time to set up a better shot.

I guess that's why I don't mind that shot, for JT that is a pretty high percentage shot when he is wide open. If he had a guy in his face, then sure, don't pull the trigger. But at this level you better be confident in taking that shot with the game on the line. Better than driving and throwing up a prayer like Emery and Haws and done the previous possessions.



I say good for JT. His defense could have used some help tonight though.

Hobs is good but he is a total punk. He threw his shoulder into Davies as they were walking to their benches and then he throws an elbow at Tavernari. I can't stand him.

20 Points and 15 boards by Hobson doesn't suck. He definitely showed up. Jimmer on the other hand was on the bench with a tummy ache. I'd imagine this will factor in somehow on some voters' minds.

I didn't mean jimmer specifically, just that Hobb's team got er done against BYU 2x. And against a number of good teams. Question is, could UNM have beat BYU with furriousCougar playing in the place of Hobbs? Kidding bro.

we didn't hit shots when it mattered; they did. UNM is a very good team that could go far in the NCAAs, provided they don't run into a team with great bigs- but there aren't many of those, particularly against the teams that UNM will see if they end up a 2-3 seed.

I think we're headed for a 4-5 if we don't win the MWC tourney.



The biggest problem I see in this game, is that with 10 minutes left and a 4-5 point lead, that the Cougs didn't push the ball and take it to the hoop, forcing UNM to foul; UNM was in serious foul trouble and we did not take it into them. This is where a healthy Jimmer would have made a huge difference.

We tried to take outside shots, Brandon Davies got in position for some questionable fouls, and all of a sudden with 4 minutes left the foul situation was even.



I expected a better performance from the Cougs in our house... they let the emotions get the better of them late and UNM stayed cool.



Both great teams and UNM deserves a top 10 ranking and a #2 seed, but just like at their place, we were in position to win and we couldn't capitalize. This one hurts.

10 minutes left is when I started questioning the refs. It was like they swallowed their whistles. Even when BYU was driving and banging (and I agree they didnt' do it enough) they didn't get calls. I swear the refs didn't want to fouls guys out so they decided to "let em play".

Why yes, yes I think BYU would win if a Furious Cougar was playing on the court. It wouldn't matter the side, because of course it would be a cougar. It would probably eat most of the UNM players before they could do anything about it, and it would be easy street from there for BYU.
