I always knew he wasn't long for the football commissioner world, but Brett Yormark has announced that he will be stepping down as the Big 12 Commissioner.

In his time he has navigated a world where the Big 10 and SEC have been wrestling more and more power away from the other conferences, lots of realignment, and bigotry cheers at stadiums.

Overall he has had some misses but the majority seem to have been victories and he has clearly established the Big 12 as the 3rd best conference.

What do you think?

Curious what the numbers look like for overall conference revenue growth under his tenure before we hand out high marks. The media rights deal stability was necessary, but the distribution gap with the SEC and Big Ten still widened quite a bit. Whoever steps in next needs to focus purely on closing that financial efficiency metric.

Yeah, revenue growth is always the big question when you look at the SEC and Big Ten gaps. Still, you gotta give him credit for keeping the conference together when everyone thought we were dead in the water. Yormark brought some actual swagger to the Big 12. Whoever steps in next has got some really big shoes to fill, especially with all the playoff format arguments coming up.

Yormark kept the lights on when a lot of folks were ready to write us all off. I remember back in eighty four when the landscape was a whole lot different, and you just needed a leader with some grit to keep things stable. He gave the Big 12 an identity when we really needed it. Wish him the best.

Spot on about keeping the lights on. A lot of us down here in the Phoenix Valley were wondering if the Big 12 was even going to survive the realignment chaos a couple years back. Yormark brought an aggressive energy that we desperately needed.

Curious who they bring in next. Hopefully someone who keeps pushing us forward in the TV market.
